Something About Intimacy
The glances musicians share--
soft and sideways,
and understanding of
string-worn fingers pressured against frets,
twisted into musical claws.
The flit of their eyes,
darting
between pairs of honeybee hands
creates it,
another word for music,
and they're standing on the stage
pretending not to notice
that we notice
the glances that they share.

G'day!
I'm pastor of a church in Silver Street in Marrickville, a suburb of Sydney, which is how I found your blog - just looking around at "Silver Street" blogs.
I am also a guitar player who reads music a bit better than Stevie Wonder, which makes me a competent technician more than a musician, I guess. But I like my guitar when I have time...
I rather like this post. It's how things are, noticing what the other person is doing, feeling how the other person's notes make your own instrument vibrate when you are exactly in tune... not just intimacy, but also, for a brief second, community.
Thanks for an observant description.
